Welcome to my oily life

Welcome to my life, the oily version!
Here we will talk about all things essential, like essential oils and how we use them in our daily lives (and the lives of our animals) to be healthier and happier and less toxic.

Essential Oils and plant-based supplements have replaced ALL of our medication, both prescription (do this only after consulting a physician) and over-the-counter. We use oils for Julio's poison ivy itch, Gia's (pit mix) stomach issues, Baby's (lamb) worms, Wheezie's (chicken) asthma, and so much more! Our motto is: There's an oil for that!
I'll also share my favorite DIY recipes for replacing some of the chemical laden products in your home with natural, safe alternatives using the power of essential oils.

What are ESSENTIAL OILS?

If you have ever enjoyed the scent of a rose, you’ve experienced the aromatic qualities of essential oils. These naturally occurring, volatile aromatic compounds are found in the seeds, bark, stems, roots, flowers, and other parts of plants. Essential oils provide plants with protection against environmental threats and play a role in plant pollination. In addition to their intrinsic benefits to plants and being beautifully fragrant to people, essential oils have long been used for food preparation, beauty treatment, and health-care practices.

Essential Oils have been used by many cultures around the world for centuries for different purposes according to each culture. Ancient Egyptians have used aromatic oils as early as 4500 BC in cosmetics and ointments. They used to make a mixture of different sources of herbal preparations such as aniseed, cedar, onion, myrrh, and grapes in perfume or medicine. The use of aromatic oils was first recorded in traditional Chinese and Indian medicine between 3000 and 2000 BC.

The use of some EOs as alternative antimicrobial and pharmaceutical agents has attracted considerable interest recently. Most of the EOs and their single constituents have been reported to inhibit several phytopathogens, human pathogens, and insects as well as their effective uses in food and pharmaceutical industries.

How Do I Use ESSENTIAL OILS?
Essential oils are used for a very wide range of emotional and physical wellness applications. They can be used a single oil at a time or in complex blends in one of three methods:

Aromatic
Certain essential oils, when diffused, can be very stimulating, while others can be calming and soothing. Diffusing essential oils can also cleanse and purify the air of unwanted odors.

Topical
Essential oils are easily absorbed by the skin and can be safely applied topically.
Internal
Certain essential oils have a rich culinary history and can be used as dietary supplements for targeted wellness.

Essential oils are both exciting and promising when it comes to taking care of your own and your family’s health. Whether you’re applying essential oils topically, enjoying the aromatic benefits through diffusing, or taking essential oils internally, the positive effects of essential oils are boundless.

That’s why you’ll want to ensure that the essential oils you are using are capable of delivering on their promise. You’ll want to make sure that you are choosing essential oils for their potency and their purity.

If you’re wondering where to buy essential oils, you don’t have to look far.
However, be careful where you look, because many essential oils on the market are heavily contaminated or adulterated with synthetic chemicals. If you’re buying essential oils, it means you want something completely natural and safe. Make sure that you don’t inadvertently buy something you think is natural but turns out to be synthetic.
When you want essential oils that are safe and effective, the most important thing to look for is purity. Pure essential oils allow you to reap the full benefits that nature has to offer. They can support you, empower you, and revive you. And when using only the purest essential oils, you can be confident that they are safe to use with your family.

Remember, you usually get what you pay for, and essential oils are no different.
Essential oils are everywhere. You can find essential oils at grocery stores, online, and even in your neighborhood market. With so many choices, how do you know which essential oils are best?

What to Look for When Buying Essential Oils

In a market where every company claims to have “pure” essential oils, how do you really know if the oils you’re using are pure? How do you know if the essential oils you’re buying are worthy of being used by you and your family?
Pure essential oils have an incredible potential to soothe, support, and revive you and your loved ones in a completely natural way. If you want the best essential oils, find out if the company you plan to buy from takes the following precautions to ensure the quality of their oils:
-
Sustainable and responsible sourcing (Where do their oils come from?)
-
Extensive and thorough testing (Do they test their oils for adulteration and contamination?)
-
Clear and accessible safety and usage information (Do they show customers how to use the oils safely?)
-
Transparency (Do they use third-party testing? Do they make test results public?)

What Makes doTERRA Different?

When you use a bottle of doTERRA essential oil, you’re using an oil that is pure. There are no contaminants, fillers, or adulterations. The essential oil industry did not have standards to ensure purity, so doTERRA created one.

Every batch of doTERRA essential oils goes through a rigorous testing process—well beyond what would be considered “good enough.” After that, each oil is sent to an independent third party for further testing and validation.

Pure Essential Oils Pass Tests

If the oil passes the tests, it’s labeled as CPTG Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade®. When you see the CPTG® label, you know you’re using the purest essential oils on the market.
