First outing with the new hard side camper... R Pod 178!

I stayed at site 27. The site has water and electric hook up, dump station, shade, level, easy access, cell service, fire pit, table, grill, restrooms, security, pet friendly and water access.

PP discount, so the site rate was $15/night.

I couldn't check in until 3pm, so I took my time getting up and getting organized.

Quick little 2 hour drive with the camper. HUGE site. Easy to back into. I went to get some beer. Ended up at Whiskey Business. Beyond the cute name, they were super helpful with picking out local beer. I walked to the business next door and ordered a Philly Cheesesteak and headed back to the campsite to eat. I slept well for my first night, despite the 40 degree temps. The hard side is a LOT easier to keep warm.

Woke up to cool temps. Off to find some breakfast! The first stop had great reviews, but didn't accept credit cards, so on the the next closest, which I couldn't find. So choice #3 was the winner! Back to the camp site where I changed out the front door lock for an RV Lock, put combination locks on the storage doors, extended the awning, researched the furnace, hot water and went for a walk along the trails along the lake. After all that work, it was time to explore breweries, sight seeing and dinner in New Braunfels. And... I FINALLY made it Gruene Hall! So much history! I made it back before the gate closed at 9pm. A good day!

This morning, I woke up and went to breakfast at a taco place. It was just ok. I thought checkout was at 3pm for some reason (more on THAT later) so after breakfast I went to IKEA and did some shopping. I also used the opportunity to avail myself of their restrooms and save the camper's sewer tank. Also, there's more room in public bathroom stall than in the wet bath in the camper. After IKEA, I went in search of a brewery. I found a decent brewery and they also served pizza, so I had some pizza and headed back to the campground. At 2ish, I was approaching the gate when my phone rang. It was the camp reminding me that checkout is at 2pm. OOOPS! So I packed up, dumped the not-shit at the dump station and headed for home. We had a great first outing with the R Pod and while I am MUCH happier in it than the Pop Up, it still has some shortcomings. Mostly the size of the bathroom and the fact that it is SOOOO small that I will NEVER shower in it. And making the bed is a cross between aerobics and torture, so I will be researching some alternatives. This R Pod is the heaviest that I can pull with the Jeep and it is still a bit of struggle for it, so it might be time to consider a tow vehicle upgrade.

I'm a transplant to the state of Texas from Florida. I LOVE Texas! (But I do miss the beach).

My favorite hobbies are traveling with my guy to new places and experiencing all that life has to offer.

I have a little obsession with essential oils. They are my first go to when I don't feel well or something smells funny. I choose to avoid chemicals when possible, so making my own soaps, lip balms and salves makes me happy!
